James H. Stowers, 66, of Du Quoin, passed away at 5:15 P.M., Monday, January 3, 2005 at his residence.
James had been a carpenter and had worked as a supervisor at Turco. He had served in the National Guard.  He was a member of the Du Quoin American Legion.
James was born February 25, 1938 at Du Quoin, IL, the son of Herschel Herman and Edna Cora (Morris) Stowers.
He is survived by children Dana Kay Stowers of Salinas, CA, Darla Stowers of Du Quoin, James Dale Stowers of Kankakee, Diana Howard of Ava, Dara Sanchez of Salinas, CA and Jay Lee Stowers of Du Quoin, three sisters- Blondie Harsy of Du Quoin, Eva L. Ellege of Ironton, MO, Patricia A. Williams of Du Quoin, five brothers- William E. Stowers of McLeansboro, Donald R. Stowers of Ziegler, Paul D. Stowers of Du Quoin, Clarence R. Stowers of Du Quoin, and Joseph E. Stowers of Ava, seventeen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter- Denise Stowers, brother- John L. Stowers, sisters- Cora N. Ridgeway, Dorothy L. Rucks and Stella M. Goodman.
Cremation services where held.
There will be no public visitation or funeral.
The Searby Funeral Home of Du Quoin is in charge of arrangements.
